System Status

System Status:
RX Checks

12-28-12 – Made the website show big images, also fixed NOAA and archive data on danchase.net
4-17-12 –
The config pages do not appear to be working, like php isn’t working. UPDATE: Figured it out, and reinstalled php5-common, and php5-sqlite
3-26-12 -
All stations have been upgraded to wview 3.20, which brings some nice backend improvements, like you don’t need to use the Davis archive and can brew records from just the data coming in.
2-22-12 – Interesting fact, the barometer is in the console, the piece inside that is connected to the computer, so even if the ISS on the roof isn’t getting power or is somehow disconnected, you will still get pressure readings.

2-20-12 – Everything appears to be ftp-ing to the website correctly

Individual stations
Beeman:
2-20-12 - After an initial problem with archive records everything appears to be working

2-23-12 – Wind seems to be calibrated wrong, since it is backwards from what all the other stations are reporting (Beeman says SW and the rest say NW)

East Gloucester:
12-28-12 - Reception is low, need to check on that
3-26-2012 - Everything seems OK

2-24-12 - The server appears to have been shut off, or there is no network connection to it/the building.  This being school vacation week I do not have ready access to it unfortunately.

2-20-12 - Humidity sensor reads 100% constantly, means bad connection to sensor or bad sensor

O’Maley Middle School:

3-26-12 - Station is back up and looking good so far! One thing I want to do with it now is utilize the UV sensor.

3-19-12 - Dave took down the station so I could put in the new temp / humidity sensor. Now we just have to find the time to put it back up!

2-24-12 - The ISS apears to not be giving out any data, I will need the check back on this later today.

2-20-12 - Temp/humidity sensor needs replacing.  Unlike the Vantage Pro, the Pro2 is one, relatively expensive chip.  Details on how to replace it yourself are here.  I hope to some day put the stats up here from the Windspire windmill that is on the roof, (how fast and how much power it is generating) but all in due time.

Veteran’s Memorial:
4-20-12 – Swapped out the anemometer, replaced the cap and the battery and realigned it on the roof, seems to be working great now!

2-26-12 - Dead wind sensor. I went to the school and looked on the roof, and the anemometer is wiggling, when it should be very straight. The best course of action would be to change it with the spare

2-20-12 - Intermittent power problem.  Needs a new capacitor and/or a new battery. The stations are solar powered, so solar power is used and also stored in a 3 fared super-cap during the day so it can pull that power during the night.  For extended periods of darkness, overcast days, or when snow is on the solar panel, it draws from a 3 volt lithium battery (which I am trying to replace with an external battery container with two ‘D’ cells)  I would guess that because of the age and condition of the capacitors they are in various stages of death.  As you can see from the temperature graph, vets turns on at sunrise and goes dark at sunset.

West Parish:
12-28-12 – The problems were with computer placement, changed it to the room directly underneath the ISS and everything works great. About a month ago the computer power supply blew up, so I swapped out the computer which meant some minor config changes (make sure it is set to restart on power failure and change the ‘interfaces’ file to the proper network port)
3-29-12 – The rain gauge works! The station was working for just long enough this morning to show some rain.

2-20-12 – Interment power problem. See above. It appears to only pop on in the middle of the day, possibly a dead-er capacitor and battery (I think it is a shadier spot, and with more abuse from the elements since it’s close to Wingaersheek).

2-23-12 - Unknown condition of the rain gauge because there was no power to the station when it rained this morning, but I would guess it needs replacing.

Plum Cove:
4-17-12 – The rain gauge seems to be working again.  It still should be checked

2-20-12 - Intermittent power problem. See above, but also displays different symptoms from Veteran’s and West Parish, since it randomly will pop on during the night.  This might be a reception problem, since I recently had to move the computer further away from the ISS (Integrated Sensor Suite, the thing on the roof) towards a more reliable network port and power in the ‘new wing’.

2-22-12 - Maybe it was a reception problem that went away, since it has been reporting fine for the past few days. I will continue to keep an eye on it.

2-23-12 - Rain gauge doesn’t work, the reed switches to fix that are on their way and should be here by next week.

It’s very rare that 3 sensors would truly fail in a short pieord of time. Especially since you replaced two of them already. I’d suspect a ground wire fault (broken wire or corroded connector) in the wiring harness between these sensors and the ECM. (They likely share a common ground wire usually black.) Without a wiring diagram, it would be tough to find. Probably a dealer or trusted, skilled mechanic is your best shot. Just don’t let them replace all 3 sensors that’s not gonna help.
