Plum Cove and The Sizemograph

Ok, the Sizmograph is close to Beeman, not Plum, and it is actually in the CAARA ham shack, but I did help install it today. The data is at http://earthquake.usgs.gov/monitoring/netquakes/station/MAGLO_NE_01/

Plum has been acting weird all day and just popped back to life a little while ago. It has been giving intermittent signals yesterday, and today it wasn’t putting out anything until an hour ago. The intermittent-nees could be because they are putting up a new water tower next to the school, but for it to go out all day is odd, unless they were running some heavy equipment, it did turn back on at 5ish. West Parish has also has hiccups. Maybe they will both even out soon.

Veteran’s is up!

Wednesday I went up on the Veteran’s Memorial roof with help from John and John. Took it down, changed the cap and the battery and strapped it back down. For the past 2 days it has been giving out reliable data, so I am very very happy! Not only does this mean it works, it also means the same fix will probably work for West Parish as well.

The capacitors are (kind of) alive!

It seems that the stations at West Parish and Veterans are kind of behaving themselves, possibly because of the relatively warm temperatures, maybe because of the high winds? West Parish stayed active until 8pm last night, which is a good change. The capacitors should still be changed, but at least I am getting more data.
